Our Story
My dad is always helping me and my siblings pursue our interests. When I mentioned candle making, he immediately ordered a DIY candle making kit, and we spent a weekend in my Papa Mac’s camper in Alabama making tea lights. Meanwhile my brother was on his youth hunt that he does every year (that I was supposed to join, oops!). By the time we were done, the whole camper smelled amazing. We had accidentally made a candle that smelled like my mom’s apple cider! That was the first scent that we made, and it was perfect for our home, where we love to enjoy all the seasonal smells and tastes and have fun together, whatever the season. But definitely the smells!
My name is Ava. When I’m not working on my middle school homework and riding horses, I love to create amazing scents in my candles! After two years of candle making, we’re now making and sharing candles from our studio on the Upper Westside of Atlanta. We are excited to share all of our creations, to help you make every day a fresh start!
To fresh starts,
Ava
Where did the name Morning Bell Home come from?
Our name came from a short poem written one morning by my little sister, Emily, on a tiny whiteboard in our kitchen.
Thank you for all my nose can smell,
Ava’s candles on morning bell.
She was inspired by all the candle testing happening in our house at the time. We thought it was cute and it stuck!
Why is the tag line ‘Every day, a fresh start’?
Our tagline kind of came from that poem as well, and it felt right for scented candles. It also points to something bigger - a reminder to start our day right and fill our day with grace. If we messed up yesterday, we can start anew today (with an amazing smelling candle!).
Why is ‘Home’ part of the name?
Well, we might not sell candles only, forever, so we didn’t want ‘Candles’ in the name. By naming it Morning Bell Home, it gives us more flexibility to grow into other scented home products.
Ava, are you doing all this by yourself?!
Absolutely not! My dad is helping out a lot, along with my mom and siblings. Most everything is a family effort – from the scents to the labels. We work together on most of it.
What’s your favorite part of running a candle business?
Definitely making the candles, smelling them and getting them ready to share with you!
